Book Signing
In The Dark Woods of Wareham: Murder of the Egg Man, by
local author Lynda Ames
Saturday, September 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The book chronicles the 1885 South Wareham crime, its investigation
and the subsequent trial of Samuel F. Besse, who ambushed and
violently murdered Westport peddler, Richard Nelson Lawton near
Blackmore Pond in South Wareham. In addition to meeting with the
author, a continuing slide presentation of photos (not included in the
book) will enhance the event and also show Besse's ties to Tihonet
Village during his earlier criminal history.

The Tihonet Iron Works and the village that sprang up around it,
predates the lovely center of today's A.D. Makepeace Company. Ms.
Ames is knowledgeable about these earlier years and would be happy
to answer questions for Saturday's visitors.
